Rally Held at the State House Calling for Green Jobs NOW!

On Wednesday June 16, AM 1510 Revolution Boston hosted a rally for Green Jobs at the Gardner Auditorium at the State House, which was broadcast live to a listening audience. The rally was hosted by AM 1510 radio host Jeff Santos, and featured a panel of guests that included labor leaders, business leaders, and environmental leaders. Congressmen Barney Frank and Edward Markey addressed the rally by phone from Washington, D.C., and panel guests included State Senator Marc Pacheco, State Rep. Frank Smizik, Mass. Building Trades Council President Frank Callahan, and Massachusetts AFL-CIO President Robert Haynes.

President Haynes spoke on the urgent need for economic development and job creation, emphasizing that green jobs are essential to rebuilding our economy and putting people back to work. He stated:

“Let us remind our politicians that they work for us, and that they don’t run this country, we do. Why are countries like Germany and China, and many other countries around the world so far ahead of the United States on creating green jobs? It’s because they care about building a sustainable economy and a sustainable environment, and it’s about time that we start caring too.”
