2009 Labor Awards Breakfast and Fundraiser to Raise Money For Boston Minuteman Council, Boys Scouts of America
2009 Labor Awards Breakfast to Benefit the Boston Minuteman Council of the Boy Scouts of America The Boston Minuteman Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be hosting their 2009 Labor Awards Breakfast on Friday June 12th at 7:30 AM. The funds raised from the Awards Breakfast will go towards the costs of programs such as "Learning for Life" which serves both boys and girls in inner cities and economically challenged areas. "Learning for Life" currently serves over 7,000 youth in Boston neighborhoods. Suzanne M. Bump, Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, will be opening the program during which which four recipients will be honored for their contributions to their communities and to Labor. Ronald "Jay" Hansen, Jr., 25 year member of the Sheet Metal Workers - Local 17 will be given the George Meany Award. This award is given to an adult union member who has made a significant contribution to the youth of their community through Scouting. The Good Scout Award will be given to two recipients this year, Kevin R. Gill, President, McCusker-Gill, Inc., and James M. Wool, Business Manager, Sheet Metal Workers Local 17. This award recognizes those who are unselfish in serving others on both an individual and community basis. Finally, the Gompers Good Scout Award will go to Senator Michael W. Morrissey of the Northfolk and Plymouth Districts. The award goes to civic and community leaders who offer continued support of both Scouting and Labor.
