The Futures Program
The Massachusetts AFL-CIO Futures Program The Massachusetts AFL-CIO Futures Program brings together young members from different unions, sectors and industries to better understand the common interests of all unions, foster greater unity, and better engage young members in the work of the Labor Movement. Through our annual Futures Convention and programmatic, social, and community service events throughout the year, we hope to empower young union members to become leaders within their unions, communities, and the broader Labor Movement. Through our growing network of young union activists, we will also mobilize support when our union brothers and sisters are involved in a struggle.
For the third straight year, delegates to the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Futures Convention have elected a fellow delegate to serve as Futures Representative to the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Executive Council. The Futures Representative also takes a leadership role in determining the goals and agenda of the Futures Program. At the 2010 Convention, delegates selected Daniel Manning of IBEW Local 2325 as their new Representative.
If you are interested in joining fellow young union members at an upcoming event, or would like more information about the program, email Dan at futures@massaflcio.org.
Futures Representatives Allison Doherty-LaCasse (2009), Daniel Manning (2010) and Jeremy McKeen (2008)
