Massachusetts AFL-CIO Resolution Urging the Hyatt Hotels of Boston to rehire Outsourced Housekeeping Workers
Massachusetts AFL-CIO Resolution Urging the Hyatt Hotels of Boston to rehire Outsourced Housekeeping Workers
WHEREAS, employers have a responsibility to their workers and to the public to help ensure fiscal stability for working families; and
WHEREAS, three Hyatt Hotels in Boston recently breached that responsibility by outsourcing the jobs of one hundred housekeeping staff to lower paid workers with no benefits; and
WHEREAS, unscrupulous practices such as this only serve to worsen and prolong our current economic crisis and cause unnecessary suffering for working people; therefore be it
RESOLVED that the Massachusetts AFL-CIO calls on the Hyatt Hotel to rehire the recently outsourced housekeeping staff, thereby preventing the unnecessary suffering of these workers who would have to face unemployment during the worst economic crisis in a generation; and be it further
RESOLVED that the Massachusetts AFL-CIO will not patronize Hyatt Hotels until these workers are given the justice and dignity they deserve; and be it finally
RESOLVED that the President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO will transmit a copy of this Resolution and other information to all relevant parties to express its ardent support for the outsourced Hyatt workers.
Respectfully Submitted,
Robert J. Haynes, President
Louis A. Mandarini, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer
