Massachusetts members make a strong turnout at Rapid Action events
Massachusetts members make a strong turnout at Week's Rapid Action events The AFL-CIO's Rapid Action Program continues in full strength, with union members turning out in large numbers to protest Senator John McCain's agenda at his campaign stops all over the country. AFL-CIO and Working America protestors have been confronting McCain on his economic positions and demanding that he speak to working families' concerns. Thus far, the Rapid Action Program has been a great success, garnering much media coverage and proving that working class Americans are an important voting block and a strong force in the upcoming elections.
The Rapid Action teams have been impossible for Senator McCain to ignore, and he recently commented on their presence on the hard-right "Mike Gallagher Show," saying "Every place I go, just about, there are AFL-CIO protesters saying I'm a Bush continuation... They're trying to convince the people that's the case and they are - well, I am." Massachusetts union members have been an invaluable resource to the Rapid Action Program, showing up to Sen. McCain's events in great numbers and making a strong showing against John McCain and his anti-worker policies. Just this week, Massachusetts members attended two Rapid Action events. The first was on Wednesday, June 11th at the Westin Hotel in downtown Boston and the second was Thursday, June 12th at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire. Click here to see photos from the Rapid Action event on June 12th. Both events had a great turnout and the members were able to spread the message that working families are not willing to be overlooked in this election.
