Although he tries to appear as a maverick going against party lines, Senator McCain is nothing of the sort. In reality, electing him to the White House would be like giving the Bush Administration a third term. Mr. McCain has actually voted in alignment with Bush, on average, 89% of the time. In 2007, he supported Bush's position on 95% of all votes. Some truly anti-worker legislation that President Bush and John McCain have stood together on include:

 

 

  • Tax cuts for the wealthy
  • Privatizing Social Security
  • Outsourcing and Privatizing hundreds of thousands of government jobs
  • Remaining in Iraq indefinitely

John McCain's campaign presents him as a "new type of politician" who is going to make change. But the change we need, after eight long years under Bush, is to elect someone who will fight for working families. As Senator McCain's atrocious record shows, he does not represent change, but rather more of the same.
