Tell Your Representatives to Pass the Minimum Wage Bill
A BUCK IS NOT ENOUGH! Tell your Rep to Raise and Index the Minimum Wage Today The Massachusetts House of Representatives is supposed to vote on the minimum wage bill in the coming days. The State Senate has already passed a bill that would raise the minimum wage from $6.75 to $8.25 over two years, and then index future raises to inflation. The House Labor and Workforce Development Committee has advanced a bill that would increase the minimum wage by just $1.00 and would not index future raises to inflation. Quite simply, A BUCK IS NOT ENOUGH! The Massachusetts AFL-CIO and many of our allies are asking the House of Representatives to support Representative Marzilli's amendment which would raise the minimum wage by $1.50 over two years, index raises to inflation for the two following years, and then sunset the indexing at that time so as not to put the minimum wage on auto pilot. It is crucial that you call your Representative immediately and tell them that A BUCK IS NOT ENOUGH and to please support the Marzilli amendment to raise and index the minimum wage.
