Description:

Friend,

On November 6th the Archdiocesan Labor Guild will hold its 43rd annual Cushing-Gavin Awards Dinner. This is one more opportunity to pay special recognition and honor to four extra ordinary professionals for the competence, vision, and integrity which they have brought to the furtherance of healthy and productive labor – management relations. Indeed, the purpose of the Guild and the goal of Judeo – Christian Social Teaching! There are many of you who have been so acclaimed in past years; many who will be so honored in the future yet, all of you carry on the mission day in and day out.

So many are responsible for inspiring and urging men and women to insure the respect due to all workers, managers, and counselors at a time when labor – management relations are so involved and challenging. On November 6th we salute four who have been truly outstanding in encouraging, engendering and enhancing that almost divine work. Thus, again this year, the Guild is thrilled that after 43 years such a gathering of union and management representatives, as well as of academics, arbitrators, legal counsels, labor educators, public agency leaders take time from their very busy lives to gather at this annual festival, named in honor of a Pope’s Cardinal and a genial Jesuit who inspired so many honorees. The gathering typifies the spirit of community of all Guild members, so aptly phrased by our beloved Father Ed, “We seek to carry forward the values of mutual respect, friendship, and community beyond partisan differences that spur the necessary accommodations that create a productive and just society.”

Please join us, once again, in the spirit of Cushing, Gavin and Boyle.
