The Real Romney Record
![]() Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has relied heavily upon his corporate success and his achievements as Governor of Massachusetts. However, his huge success in his venture capital firm depended on him taking advantage of workers and getting rich off their hardships. There are many achievements that Romney can claim, but take a closer look at each topic to see if Romney actually did more harm than good in Massachusetts. Furthermore, his constant fluctuation on important issues (depending on which constituency he is trying to cater to) shows that he is not the best candidate to be President, to put it mildly.
While Mitt Romney may be able to con some into believing that he is dedicated to America's working class, his record disputes this time and time and time again. Press reports covering former Governor Romney's campaign in Michigan have written, "He pledged to convene business, labor and government leaders to confront the auto industry's problem's within his first 100 days in the White House. But more than policy, he sought to convey passion and compassion."
But Romney has never been compassionate toward working people. In fact, he has continuously profited from their distress. Robert J. Haynes, President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, comments, "If he wasn't so good at being so disingenuous, this latest campaign spin would be one heck of a punchline. It is absurd on its face that Mitt Romney could say with a straight face that he would bring labor, business, and government together. This is the man who, as Governor of Massachusetts, was the first and only governor in the 120-year history of the Massachusetts AFL and the Massachusetts AFL-CIO that never met with me as President of the state AFL-CIO and never made any overtures to meet with anyone in labor, ever. He was pathologically disdainful of organized labor and working men and women and I hope America doesn't have to make the same mistake Massachusetts did with this guy to learn its lesson."
