In Support of Implementing Our Strategic Plan
WHEREAS, on May 23rd, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO Executive Council unanimously endorsed the 2007-2008 Strategic Plan, which sets a broad and ambitious agenda for the Massachusetts State Federation; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Council's approval marked the conclusion of a two year collaborative effort of planning, writing and review by our staff, Executive Council and outside consultants; and
WHEREAS, the Strategic Plan is the most comprehensive, detailed plan in the organization's history, covering the Political, Legislative and Communications, and Education and Training Departments, organizing programs, youth and leadership development, community service, technological solidarity and advancement, mobilization and strike support, marketing, retiree outreach, coordination with Central Labor Councils, and affiliation and growth plans; and
WHEREAS, the Strategic Plan has been reviewed by the National AFL-CIO, who lauded our agenda, and offered their comments to make improvements in some areas; therefore be it
RESOLVED, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is committed to work with our affiliates to implement the programs and action items detailed in the Strategic Plan. This includes the forming of new committees and working groups, made up of members of our Executive Council, and members of various unions; and be it finally
RESOLVED, that the President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO will transmit a copy of this resolution and other information to all relevant parties to demonstrate its ardent support for our Strategic Plan.
