In Support of Issues Mobilization

WHEREAS, the Bush Administration and its congressional allies have combined forces to advance the most anti-worker and anti-union agenda in recent memory; and

WHEREAS, the attacks on workers include massive redistribution of wealth to the most wealthy by enacting massive tax cuts, eliminating overtime protections for 8 million Americans, flawed trade deals that ship U.S. jobs overseas and denying collective bargaining rights for hundreds of thousands of federal workers; and

WHEREAS, the Labor Movement has devoted considerable energy to informing union members of their choices at the ballot box but less energy to inform and energize our members in grassroots legislative campaigns; therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, in conjunction with the Central Labor Councils, reaffirm its commitment to grassroots issues mobilization including visits with legislators, internal communication and internet activism; and be it further resolved

RESOLVED, that the President of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO will transmit a copy of this resolution and other information to all relevant parties to demonstrate its ardent support for issues mobilization.
