Workplace Laws & Your Right to Organize

October 17, Workplace Laws & Your Right to Organize, Noon-2:00pm, Pioneer Valley Workers Center, 20 Hampton Avenue, Suite 200, Northampton.
Workshop participants learn about basic workplace rights protected by state and federal laws, including discrimination and wage and hour laws, and then about the Right to Organize both to enforce those rights and to gain even more workplace rights. We’ll apply these legal rights to typical workplace problems, using “protected concerted activity” and community support from unions and community organizations like Jobs With Justice, the Pioneer Valley Workers Center, and the new ALF. This workshop is primarily for non-union workers (alas, the majority of us) and students going into the workforce. Others will find it useful for thinking of ways they can support workplace struggles and unionization.
