The exam must be administered on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Should a student need an alternate date due to illness, you may accommodate that need as long as the student provides a doctor's note. Please ensure that the rescheduled date is within the week of February 6th. Contact our office with extenuating circumstances.

In the event of a snow day, arrangements should be made for the exam to be taken once school is back in session.

Instructions to give to students:
Please instruct students to use a number two pencil.

Students should be given the exam booklet that has their name printed on the front cover. In the event that you did not receive an exam for a registered student, please contact our office. A blank exam was provided that can be used as needed - please be sure the student fills out name and school information clearly. Students who did not pre-register may not take the exam.

On the bubble sheet, students must enter their name and exam ID, which can be found on the top right hand corner of the exam. They must write their name and ID number, as well as fill in the corresponding bubbles below.

Fill out bubble marks clearly and fully as shown in the sample line.

Returning exams

The Annual AFL-CIO Scholarship Program is in its 61st year. Through the scholarship program, the Massachusetts AFL-CIO is honored to continue a long tradition of helping students continue their education as they work toward creating bright futures.

The Massachusetts AFL-CIO scholarship program awardees receive between $500 and $16,000 towards their education. Over 40 unions, central labor councils, area businesses and charitable trusts from across Massachusetts participate in awarding scholarships that total nearly half a million dollars. Unions in Massachusetts have given close to $10 million in scholarships since 2000. About 1,500 students take the exam annually to compete for a scholarship.

To qualify for a scholarship students must take the labor history exam.

We are proud to announce that the new Labor History Study Guide is now available for download. Please click below to download the guide. Good luck to the students taking the 2018-19 exam!
