WHAT

This full-day Popular Education workshop - Sponsored by WILD (the Women's Institute for Leadership Development) will examine the theory and techniques of education for social change. We'll review some ideas about how adults learn, present some tools for effective adult education, and explore applying these to the goal of social change. We are offering two levels:

1) INTRODUCTION TO POPULAR EDUCATION

For women who have never taught at WILD or taken Popular Education training before, this training will engage participants in both the theory and practice of learner-centered, experience-based, participatory education for action. Participants will also explore facilitation challenges.

2) ADVANCED TRAINING OF TRAINERS

For women who have taught at WILD or have experience with training and participated in basic Popular Education training, this training will give participants the opportunity to examine how workshops are designed, practice designing and teaching a learning task and explore facilitation skills.

  • For women who are new to teaching, but want to learn about popular education as a theory and practice of adult education.
